The truth about the Iranian regime’s new president

Image
By Sadegh Pashm-Foroush The day after the announcement of the results of Iran’s sham presidential election, Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei summoned the remaining members of the government of former regime president Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19. In his remarks to them—indirectly addressing new regime president Massoud Pezeshkian—he warned him and reminded him of the “model” of the president in the regime. The supreme leader repeatedly mentioned Raisi and said, “He is truly a model; we must all learn from him.” He then reiterated the concept of “heartfelt belief and practical commitment” to the regime, which Pezeshkian, like all the election candidates, had committed to. Khamenei stated, “Dear Raisi demonstrated as a model that one can possess these mental, heartfelt, and practical qualities as the president of a country and follow them in practice.” Of course, before the sham election, Pezeshkian repeatedly stated that he would continue Raisi...

He died after 4 days in the hospital. The governor of the regime in Baneh called Ahmadpour’s family and threatened that his body should be buried at midnight without public notice. independent: House forms new bipartisan caucus to support Iranian women’s protests

Image
Capitol Hill is coalescing around a new bipartisan consensus towards Iran, as protests against the government in Tehran continue and a resumption of the 2015 nuclear accord seems further away than ever before. On Thursday, lawmakers from both parties led by Congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee and Nancy Mace, a Democrat, and Republican, respectively, formed the Congressional Iranian Women Caucus, a group focused on the advancement of human rights in the conservative Muslim country at a time when women across Iran are fighting for greater freedoms from their government. The caucus leaders led the announcement of its formation on Thursday with a new bipartisan resolution, already cosponsored by more than a dozen Republicans and Democrats, that condemns a recent gas attack against schoolgirls in Iran. The resolution also calls on the State Department and United Nations to investigate the matter. “So many Iranian women are showing their bravery and resiliency in the face of challenges in...

April 19 is a reminder of the Shah’s crimes in Iran

Image
On April 19, 1972, the Shah regime executed a group of senior members of the Iranian opposition   People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran   (PMOI/MEK). Nasser Sadegh, Mohammad Bazargani, Ali Mihandoost, and Ali Bakeri were among the MEK’s central committee members whom were all arrested eight months prior and severely tortured by the Shah’s SAVAK intelligence agency. They were executed by a firing squad following sham trials in the Shah’s military courts. Around the same time, SAVAK also murdered Asghar Montazer Haghighi in street clashes. Three years later, again on April 19, the Shah’s regime executed seven members of the Organization of Iranian People’s Fedai Guerrillas and two senior MEK members by the names of Kazem Zulanvar and Mostafa Javan Khoshdel. The Shah’s regime, witnessing the impact of the MEK and Fedaian in Iranian society, especially among college students and educated people, targeted its revenge on political prisoners. SAVAK sought to whitewash these ...

Iran: Hallmarks of an Alternative – Part 1

Image
Written by Alejo Vidal Quadras The following is the first part of a piece written by Dr. Alejo Vidal Qudras in the book “Iran Democratic Revolution,”  published  by the International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ):  The unity of opposition forces seeking to overthrow the regime and forming an alternative is one of the essential pillars of resistance against a dictatorship, especially the religious fascism ruling Iran. The existence of an alternative is imperative for advancing the struggle to overthrow the regime and securing victory for people who are willing to pay the price for the struggle. Conversely, the absence of an alternative can cause a revolution to fail or be diverted from its optimal path. The alliance of the forces participating in the revolution can already be seen on the streets of Iran. This writing intends to assess the characteristics of an alternative around which an alliance or coalition of movements willing to overthrow the ruling regim...
