Iranian regime officials and state media are still furious about the recent disruption of 27 state television and radio networks that resulted in the broadcasting of Iranian opposition leaders’ footage and over 400 servers being destroyed. Even 24 hours after the ordeal many state TV stations were still unable to broadcast subtitles and announce their programs prior to their airing.
“This measure by the [Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)] in disrupting state TV broadcasting will not go unanswered. We need to deliver a firm respond response to the [PMOI/MEK],” said Alireza Salimi, a member of the regime’s Majlis (parliament).
The official PMOI/MEK website has thus far been the target of five DDOS attacks with more than 12.6 million requests per second in the latest wave. This attack was launched at 7:25 pm Central European Time on Friday, January 29, and was nearly six times more powerful than the previous attack at noon that same day.
Many TV and radio stations of Iran’s state broadcasting network were disrupted at 3:00 pm local time on Thursday, January 27, airing footage of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and Madam Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The disrupted sequence also aired visual and at times audio slogans of “Death to Khamenei!” in a reference to regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and “Viva Rajavi!” again referring to the Iranian opposition leaders. A crossed-out image of Khamenei was also shown on numerous state TV networks.
“The [PMOI/MEK] are always going from one city to another, and from one country to another. They should know that they will receive a firm response at the right timing time,” said Majlis member deputy Esmail Kothari.
“The first aftershock of the recent hack or infiltration in Network One of state TV is now seen in the Livestream of this network being cut off on social media,” according to a report posted by the state-run Khabar Fouri Telegram channel.
“There is this possibility that an operative who infiltrated the system was helping from the inside. This makes it all the more necessary imperative for the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) apparatus to carry out necessary security measures regarding their employees,” reads a report wired by the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) terrorist Quds Force.
“The disruption in the IRIB network and slogans being broadcasted in a number of state TV and radio stations was a strange and unprecedented development,” according to a report in the state-run Iran-Dideban website.
“There need to be significant measures taken to immunize the IRIB apparatus. [Thursday’s] incident in the IRIB was truly unfortunate and raises grave concerns. I am calling on IRIB officials across the country, and in our province, to take more action for our security so we’re not embarrassed in such a way,” said the Friday prayer leader in the city of Tabriz, northwest Iran.
“What happened needs to be evaluated. There need to be precise and preventive measures taken, and if there was infiltration in this regard and other similar cases, firm action is needed,” said the Friday prayer leader in the city of Khorramabad, western Iran.
A growing number of regime officials are expressing grave concerns about infiltration among their ranks and files, shedding light on the regime’s very fragile apparatus and the growing hatred among the Iranian people who take advantage of every opportunity to deliver such extraordinary blows to the mullahs’ rule. This, of course, comes just weeks after the recent January 5 torching of a statue built to commemorate the regime’s terror mastermind Qassem Soleimani.
“Such incidents are only natural as long as there is infiltration in the ranks and files of the government and other institutions,” said the Friday prayer leader of Fereydun Shahr, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.
“Mr. Raisi! You should Expect expect your government to be hacked when six months into your administration you have changed less than 400 officials from the 3,400 sensitive posts across the executive branch in various ministries, departments, organizations, banks, institutions and other provincial branches, and most government directors of the previous administration are still in their posts,” said former Majlis member deputy Hamid Rasaie in a Farsi tweet.
“It is a disgrace for IRIB officials that [dissidents] have infiltrated to such depth of our system and hacked the IRIB networks. Therefore, we must therefore be more careful than ever regarding the enemy’s infiltrating infiltration measures,” a Friday prayer leader in a town near Pakdasht, western Iran, according to IRNA.
“Our system is facing new threats. We need to think about taking the measures necessary to prevent such threats evolving into crises,” according to a report wired by the IRGC-affiliated Fars news agency.
