In 1981, at the age of 27, he became commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a position he held for 16 years—the longest tenure as commander of the force. During his tenure, the IRGC’s ground, naval, and air forces were established, the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters was founded, and the IRGC evolved from a paramilitary force into military, security, and economic power. True to Form, Raisi Threatens Foreign Leaders With Terrorism

Iranian regime’s president Ebrahim Raisi threatened the United States with retaliation for killing Qassem Soleimani, the notorious commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ terrorist Quds Force.



On the second anniversary of Soleimani’s killing, the Iranian regime and its allied groups in Iraq held a memorial service for the slain IRGC commander and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandes, a former leader of Tehran’s allied Iraqi militias. The two were killed along with several others in a January 3, 2020, drone strike ordered by former US president, Donald Trump in Iraq.

According to the IRGC-run Fars news agency, in a speech in Tehran’s Mosalla on Monday, Ebrahim Raisi called for the prosecution of former US administration officials – including then-President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. “If a competent court holds a trial fine, if not, the verdict of Qesas (retribution in kind) must be applied” and “God’s judgment should be carried out against them”.

Without further elaboration, Raisi threatened the US government that if such a trial was not held, “revenge will come out of the people’s sleeves.”

Raisi’s presidency has prompted many human rights organizations and advocates have call on the international community to launch an investigation into his role in the 1988 massacre of tens of thousands of political prisoners in Iran.

“Have no doubt that Ibrahim Raisi is personally responsible for the massacre of thousands of political prisoners in 1988,” former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a speech in September. “The names of about 5,000 of these victims have been published, and the bodies of these brave men and women, have been buried in unmarked graves.”

Days after the elimination of Soleimani, the United States told the United Nations that the operation against Soleimani was in self-defense and pledged to take further action “if necessary” in the Middle East to protect US personnel and interests.
